I was busy dressing our family Christmas tree earlier today and I was struck by how much I really love Christmas! Yes, it’s the season of goodwill to all, when we spend quality time with loved ones, family and friends.
Usually, we eat and drink too much and wear colourful Christmas sweaters, but its also a time when we give. Being generous at Christmas is second nature to many of us, and its always so much more enjoyable to give than to receive a gift.
The innocence of children at Christmas always inspires me. My youngest son Jude, who is 4 years old, currently can be found watching kids TV, and in the adverts he just shouts out ‘I’m getting that! I’m getting that!’ Which of course, he isn’t, well not all of those things anyway!
I love how the fast pace of life seems to slow down over the holiday period, as people find time for each other, often away from their busy working lives and its a time to refocus our hearts and minds and focus on what really matters most.
I’m always inspired by Christmas markets, Christmas movies and when it snows, well I’m just as happy as can be. I like to go to bed early on Christmas Eve too, like I did as a young boy and await the arrival of Santa in the morning. Hey, why not try and recapture some of that childhood innocence for myself too?
I think of others at Christmas, those who may be facing Christmas alone and hope they too can find some joy, some love and some happiness. I encourage you to think of others this Christmas time too, perhaps an elderly neighbour or an estranged family member. Reach out to them, call round for a brew and take a box of chocolates with you.
For our tenants, we will be available during the holiday season, as usual, at the end of the phone should they need us in an emergency or where repairs are required. I want them to really enjoy Christmas in their homes, and I’ll do my best to wish each of them ‘Happy Christmas’ personally.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our landlords for their business over the past 12 months, and reassure them that we are, and will remain in complete control of your property investments throughout this festive season and well into the new year.
From me to all of you, Merry Christmas and have the best New Year ever!
