Here is a blog post I did recently on the website for my latest business venture My Own Estate Agent – soon to be the UK’s premier private sale website.
There can be no doubting that social media is a massive part of how we communicate in the 21st century. To sell anything without taking this into consideration would be a BIG mistake, and this includes selling your home privately.
90% of potential buyers search for their next home online, so we would encourage you to give your private, online home sale a boost by using sites such as twitter and facebook amongst many others. This really may help you along and even contribute to finding you that all important sale.
How to Sell Your House with Social Media
facebook – Your facebook friends may just be looking for a house like yours or know somebody who is, so why not start there? Update your facebook status to let them know that your home is ‘for sale by owner’ and ‘Share’ your My Own Estate Agent profile with them. You could even create an ‘Open House’ event and encourage your friends to ‘spread the word’ to their family or friends, inviting them to come along for an informal viewing.
twitter – Learning to describe your property in 140 characters for a tweet can be tricky, but make it concise and don’t forget you can add a picture and tag your location to add extra emphasis. Use Apps like Instagram to make the photo sharing more interesting and colourful! If using My Own Estate Agent then why not tweet links to your ‘for sale by owner’ profile?
Pinterest – Pinterest is massively popoular for lovers of DIY, planning and general home improvement tips. Why not pin different key features of your home ‘for sale by owner’ to a Pinterest board? You can then share your pins through your other social media channels.
