Our very own Simon Holland has been a busy bee this past weekend, as he combined his love of two sports teams, the Los Angeles Rams and non-league Ramsbottom United FC.
Both teams are know as the ‘Rams’ and Simon took to the town last weekend, wearing his replica NFL ‘Rams’ Helmet, to promote the local football team, and raise awareness of the upcoming Superbowl, which is due to be played on Sunday 13th February 2022 in Los Angeles, at the home of the LA Rams!!!
Simon has also written and produced a short video with the help of Matt Grice @GRMedia to help promote the link between the two towns, and you can see the finished video on the local football teams facebook page.
Coached by Sean McVey the LA Rams have had a fantastic season, with their Quarterback Matthew Stafford, Wide Receivers Odell Beckham Jr and Cooper Kupp having a fantastic regular season, and they all carried that form into the playoffs and NFC Championship game, earning the team their 5th appearance in the annual season finale Superbowl.
Short of flying to Los Angeles, Simon thought the next best way to be involved was to wear his helmet to a ‘Rammy United’ football game, but sadly it was not be, as on the day the game was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch!
The weather in Ramsbottom is a long way from that the lucky folk of California experience, but for those who want to watch the big game, you can do so for FREE on the BBC or on Sky TV Main Event or their dedicated NFL channel.
Let’s hope its a WIN for the ‘Rams’ of Los Angeles, and on behalf of the good people of Ramsbottom, UK we wish them all the very best!!!
“GO RAMS”!!!
